Yarn Pom Poms Materials
- Plastic Pom Pom Maker Tool
- Yarn of Choice
- Scissors
Step 1
First, open up the tabbed arms of your plastic pom pom maker. Choose whichever size you want to make. The larger the plastic maker, the larger the pom pom will be.
Step 2
Next. Starting at the hinge side on one arm of your pom pom maker, wrap your yarn around until you reach the tabbed side of the arm.
Note:
Wrap your yarn thickly for a fluffier and fuller pom pom.
Step 3
Once you reach the tab, fold the yarn-wrapped arm back into the pom pom maker. Then continue wrapping yarn around the second plastic arm, again starting at the hinged side and working towards the tabbed end.
Step 4
After your second arm is wrapped, fold it into the pom pom maker. Then cut the yarn wrapped around the maker from the ball of yarn.
Step 5
Once both of your yarn wrapped arms are secured, carefully cut around the center of the pom pom maker. There is an indentation in the pom pom maker to guide your scissors. Make sure that you cut through every piece of your yarn.
Step 6
Next, cut a small length of yarn and tie it as tight as you can around the center of your pom pom maker. Wait to double knot it until your pom pom is no longer attached to the maker.
Step 7
Hold the ends of your knotted length of yarn tightly and carefully pull the top and bottom pieces of your pom pom maker apart.
Note:
If you are having trouble pulling them apart, carefully open the arms and try. It allows you a slightly better grip.
Step 8
Once your pom pom is free of the pom pom maker, tighten your knotted piece of yard as tight as you can and then double knot it to fully secure.
Step 9
Lastly, fluff your pom pom and then trim any excess until your pom pom edges are even.
