Printable Polaroid Shaker Thank You Card Tutorial
At the Stampaway Convention in Sharonville, Ohio last fall, I found this awesome new-to-me stamp company called Brass + Bliss. While the stamps are totally adorable (and I’ve got some projects coming your way with them) one of the items I fell in love with were the specialty paper packs.

One of the owners was kind enough to share how they came about with me at the convention. He and his wife paired with an amazing artist to create one-of-a-kind watercolor images which they turned into these beautiful 6 x 6 inch double-sided paper packs.
Why do I love these so much? They are so colorful! In fact, when I found out that even the fall sheets were bright and beautiful, I was totally sold.
These 2 cards use sheets from the “Watercolor Beauty” paper pack but I highly recommend you check out all of the pads that they collaborated with Melinda Stearns on. The artwork and colors are truly amazing.
Note that because I made 2 different versions of this card, I will list all of the materials for both below. However, if it is something used specifically for one card or the other, I will denote that (eg: Yellow or Blue Card).

Step 1 – Make Your Card Base
Start with the color of cardstock for the card that you want to make. Then create an A2 Book Fold Card Base.
Psst… need step-by-step instructions? Check out How to Make Basic Card Folds and Common Card Sizes.

Step 2 – Cut Out Your Paper Elements

First, grab the sheet of 6 x 6 inch paper from the Watercolor Beauty pack that corresponds with the color of the shaker card you are making.
Then place it on your cutting plates and tape your rectangle cutting die on it. Use the die that is about 1/2 (.5) inches smaller than your card base.
Next, add the top plate and run it through your Sizzix.
Remove the tape and cutting die, along with the cut decorative paper and set it aside.

After your decorative base is cut out, place the white cardstock on the cutting plates and tape the larger Polaroid cutting die in place over it.
Note: Use the pink paper from the Brights A2 Paper Pad if making the pink card.
Again, add the top place and run it through your machine. Then remove all of the elements from the cutting plates.
For the blue card: Use a blending brush with your teal ink pad to color the Polaroid cut-out.

Lastly, use Tombow glue to create little dots of glue all over the back of the Polaroid die cut. Set it aside and allow the glue to set (it will still be tacky upon setting). This prevents the glue from seeping onto the acetate when you attach it.

Step 3 – Create Your Polaroid Shaker Element
While you wait for your glue to set, cut out a square of cardstock that is slightly smaller than the outer perimeter of Polaroid cut out (white for both the blue card and the yellow card).

For the yellow card, use a blending brush with the light yellow ink pad to color the white square die cut.

Next, stamp your thank you sentiment on the rectangle, slightly higher than the center. For the yellow card, stamp in burgundy and for the blue card, stamp in navy blue.

Now, attach your acetate to the back of your Polaroid die cut. Trim up any excess that shows around the edges from the front.

Then, turn your Polaroid die cut so that the back side is up and attach double-sided adhesive foam tape around the edges of the window.
Ensure that none of the window is at all covered. If your foam tape is too wide, have the excess hang off of the outer edge and trim it after adhesion.

To finish, sprinkle some of your shaker elements onto the window. Then remove the backing from the foam tape. Ensure that the stamped sentiment is facing away from you so that it shows through the window of the Polaroid.

Step 4 – Assemble Your Card
Once all of the elements are completed, it’s time to put them all together.

First, attach your watercolor paper to the front of the card base with your glue runner.
Be sure that it is centered on the card front before firmly pressing into place.

Next, add 2 strips of thin, double-sided adhesive to the back of your shaker element. Add an additional strip of adhesive foam tape to the bottom of the Polaroid element (the part that is not covered by the cardstock square).

Then remove the backings and attach the shaker element so that it is centered on your card front.

Tips and Tricks
- If you don’t have the exact shaker elements that I used (I know that Close to My Heart got absorbed by Stampin’ Up so products have changed), it’s no big deal. Simply choose a glitter or sequin element that matches the colors in the card.
- You can use a colored cardstock for the Polaroid die cut of blue card if you own one that matches. I did not have one so chose to show you that you can always use white cardstock and ink it to match your project.

This watercolor Polaroid thank you card is such a bright and beautiful way to say thanks!
I chose not to put a sentiment on the inside but you could easily cut a piece of cardstock that coordinates or matches the Polaroid frames. Then simply attach it to the inside right flap of the card and stamp.
