Shamrock Straw Toppers Tutorial
Who else is super excited for St. Patrick’s Day this year?
We’re not having a big party or anything, simply a celebration at home with the kiddos but I’m still excited.
I can’t wait to crank up the Flogging Molly with the kiddos and nosh on some corned beef and cabbage.
We also like to dress up ALL of the drinks for St. Patty’s. That means green food coloring goes in the Sprite, sparkling grape juice, and beer for the day.
Another way I’m fanci-fying the drinks this year is with these super fun shamrock straw toppers! I love how they turned out and seriously can’t wait to surprise the kiddos with them.

Step 9
Before cutting your file, select the number of straw toppers you want to make by changing the cut number in the top left corner. Then cut out your design.
Step 10
After your shamrocks are cut, unload your mat from the machine and pull off the excess cardstock leaving only your un-weeded designs on the mat.
Step 11
Next, pull your shamrocks off of the mat and weed any of the cut lines that didn’t stay stuck to the mat.
Step 12
After your shamrocks are ready, add glue to the outside edges of you shamrock with the lines inside of it.
Be careful not to get glue on the center because that it what you will put your straw through. See the photo above for reference.
Step 13
Now align your second shamrock (the one without lines cut out of it) over top of the shamrock with glue and press them together.
Step 14
Lastly, slide your straw through the small tab on the back of your connected shamrocks.
Step 15
Repeat steps 12 through 14 until all of your shamrock straw toppers are made.
Tips and Tricks
Stick with a glue runner for this project because other glues are likely to shift or run when you press your shamrocks together. This can cause the tab that you slide your straws through to get glued down making it impossible to put on a straw.
Use one of your Cricut tools to slide between the slits in your back shamrock. Then slightly bend your shamrock so that you can slide your straws through more easily.
