I’m actually super excited for Valentine’s Day this year. We may be forced to celebrate from home but it simply means we have to get creative.
We can still enjoy a romantic evening together after the kids go to bed. What better way to make it special than dressing up dinner with a little fancy touch like these heart napkin rings?
Supplies for Heart Napkin Rings
Resin Dye (Reds, Pinks, and White)
Resin Tool (Metal or Silicone)
Measuring Cup for Mixing
Craft Stick for Mixing
Sand Paper (Optional)
Important: Always wear protective gloves when working with resin.
Step 1
First, mix up 2 ounces of equals parts A and B of your casting resin.
Step 2
Next fill your heart napkin ring mold halfway with resin.
Step 3
After your resin in the mold, pull out a light pink resin dye.
I used the peach from this set.
Then add drops at random on top of the resin in the mold.
Step 4
Now, repeat step 3 with your dark pink dye.
I used the rose color from the set.
Step 5
Lastly, add random drops of your white dye to the top of the resin.
Step 6
After all of your colors are added, use your resin tool to gently swirl the colors around.
I also pushed down with my tool in some areas to get some dimension throughout the resin.
Step 7
Once your colors are mixed, pour more clear resin into your mold. Stop roughly 1/8 inch from the top of the silicone mold.
Step 8
Now set your mold aside to cure for 24 hours. Make sure that you have it on a flat surface in a dry area.
Step 9
After your resin has finished curing, remove your napkin ring from the silicone mold.
Step 10
If needed, sand the bottom of your napkin ring with a fine grit sand paper (400 grit or above).
Step 11
Repeat steps 1 through 10 until you have the desired amount of napkin rings made.
Tips and Tricks
The kit in the materials list only comes with 1 heart mold. If you want to make more than one napkin ring at a time (especially since there is a 24 hour curing time) then you will need to buy multiple sets.
These napkin rings are hand washable. I don’t recommend washing them in the dishwasher, especially with a heat dry setting.
