Printable Easter Banner Tutorial
It’s official… I’m bringing the fun candy vibe I decorate with at Christmas to my spring décor!
The colorful pompoms on this DIY Easter banner remind me of jelly beans which is so fun. Plus, it looks totally awesome on my mantle.
Ironically, jelly beans are another candy that I think are super fun and pretty but can’t stand the taste of. Add that to candy corn and candy canes and I’m noticing a weird pattern.
All of them are still fun decorate with, though, and this is a totally colorful and fun piece of Easter décor for your home!
Easter Banner Materials
8 Pack Wooden Chicks (Dollar Tree)
9 Decorative Carrots (Sold in Packs of 6 at Dollar Tree)
Yellow Paint
Paint Brush
Needle
Scissors
Step 1 – Paint Your Chicks
First, open your package of chicks and paint each one with your yellow paint. Then set them aside to dry.
Step 2 – Make Your Garland
While your chicks dry, thread your clear beading thread onto the needle and string 4 large pompoms onto it.
Then, poke the needle through the orange part of a carrot. They are foam and the needle should go through fairly easily.
After the carrot is on, thread 4 more pompoms onto the thread. Continue until you have 10 sets of 4 pompoms and 9 carrots threaded into a garland.
Step 3 – Secure the Ends of Garland
Once all of your pompoms and carrots are threaded, tie off the end of your thread that had the needle on it. Do this by removing the needle and making a double-knot with a loop at the end.
Next, cut the garland from the roll of beading thread. Leave enough to again make a double-knot with a loop on this end.
Step 4 – Decorate Your Yellow Chicks
After your garland is complete, set it aside and pull out your dry, painted chicks.
Then use a purple paint pen to write “E-A-S-T-E-R” on 6 of your chicks. Put one letter per chick.
Lastly, paint decorated Easter eggs on the remaining 2 chicks. Again, allow all of your paint to dry before moving on.
Step 5 – Attach Chicks to Garland
When your chicks are completely dry, cut eight 3-4 inch lengths of your yellow floss and thread it through each chick with a slipknot.
Then tie your chicks to the garland in between the 2nd and 3rd pompoms in each set. Skip the first set of pompoms and start with the second. Attach one of your decorated egg ones then spell out “Easter” and finish with your second decorated egg.
Tips and Tricks
You can use whatever color pompoms you want for this tutorial. I stuck with colors I felt were bright and spring-y. You can make it fit your personal style.
The loops on the ends of your garland can be used as hangers if you want to hang your banner on a wall or if you have hooks on your mantle for décor.
If you need a guide for painting your eggs, use a pencil to lightly outline the design. Then go over it with your paint pens. I used a heavier pencil so that you could see the design more clearly in the tutorial.
